Indications are that Colorado will experience over 42,000 stolen motor vehicles in 2022. This is an 11% increase in total thefts from 2021. Using the estimated average dollar loss per motor vehicle, this equates to an additional 28.1 million dollar impact in 2022 compared to 2021
Areas demonstrating the largest increases of vehicle theft from 2021 to 2022 were reported in Northern Colorado Area, Southern Colorado, and the Denver Metro Area.
